Our Policies

Our Policy Foundations

At HerCommunity, our policies are grounded in a commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces for women and girls. While our work is community-based and non-clinical, it is underpinned by recognised principles from psychology, safeguarding, and trauma-informed practice.

Our approach is guided by the following key frameworks:

Safeguarding and Duty of Care
We prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all participants. Our policies align with UK safeguarding guidance, ensuring clear procedures for recognising, responding to, and reporting concerns. We promote a culture of care, transparency, and responsibility in all of our sessions.

Trauma-Informed Practice
We recognise that many women and girls may have experienced adversity or trauma. Our sessions are designed to be emotionally safe, choice-led, and non-judgemental. We avoid re-traumatisation by focusing on empowerment, trust, and respect.

Psychologically Informed Approaches
Our work draws on evidence-based psychological principles, including elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), emotional literacy, and self-reflection. We aim to support participants in understanding thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a practical and accessible way.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
We are committed to creating a space where all women and girls feel seen, valued, and respected. Our policies reflect the principles of the Equality Act 2010, promoting inclusivity across race, culture, identity, ability, and background.

Confidentiality and Consent
We respect participants’ privacy and create clear boundaries around confidentiality. We are transparent about the limits of confidentiality, particularly where there are safeguarding concerns, and we ensure informed consent is obtained for participation.

Empowerment and Strength-Based Practice
We focus on building confidence, resilience, and self-worth. Our approach recognises the strengths and potential within each individual, rather than framing them through deficits or difficulties.

Our Commitment

We are dedicated to providing a supportive, respectful environment where women and girls can explore their experiences, develop self-understanding, and build positive connections with others.
